A really cool political ‘process story’ popped up on www.drudgereport.com today. For those of you who aren’t familiar with Drudge Report, it is an extremely influential news/somewhat-gossip bloggish site that rarely has any news of its own (with the occasional insider breaking story that Drudge somehow lands and briefly writes about himself). It usually just links to a bunch of different online articles that the site’s owner - Matt Drudge - feels are news worthy. I have become a huge fan of the site over the past couple of years because the guy really does link to some pretty interesting stuff on a daily basis. On top of that it’s awesome to know that he went from just another lonely blogger (I’m not lonely!) a few years ago to a site that is frequently refreshed throughout the day by Senators, Business Moguls, Presidents and all… yet the site still remains a one-man shop coupled with incredible super-secret inside sources which gives him his power. Oh, and it’s also worth mentioning that Drudge Report got its ginormous start back in 1998 by breaking the Monica Lewinsky story to the world… not a bad start, Matty Drudge!!

The story gives you a peak into what it takes to host a US President in a foreign land, especially in a place that is such a high target for terrorists. It is a ‘process story’ so instead of going into the meat of the trip like the agenda and what’s being visited it instead talks about how the trip itself is logistically made possible. Enjoy! First of all, Karl Rove is a badass. The guy is a political genius and is as powerful as it gets in Washington! This open letter is beautiful strategy. While it may seem that he is being a nice guy and just trying to offer a helping hand to Barack Obama, he is actually: #1 subtely pointing out both Clinton and Obama weaknesses in one fell swoop for the public (he is dead on by the way!), #2 getting people to read and accept the article because it comes off as advice from one friend to another (which is laughable), #3 making sure people understand that if Obama doesn’t win in Iowa (the nation’s first caucus coming up on January 3rd 2008… it really is a big effing deal to win it!), then Clinton is a sure thing for the nomination. And what happens if Obama wins in Iowa? Clinton is no longer the shoe-in, Obama gains ginormous momentum, fast-forward to Obama might actually pull off the nomination, and then, Republicans win the presidency!!! VERY SMART ROVINATOR! Karl Rove knows that only Hillary and Obama have a chance of being the democratic presidential nominee. If it’s Clinton, she becomes President (long story on why it’s true, but it is)… if it’s Obama, Republicans rip him to shreds during the general election process because he simply is a joke of a candidate this time around. 2 years as a US Senator is the only serious experience the guy has so that makes him worthless as President. A cute run but way too premature. Maybe in 2016 big guy! Don’t even try for 2012.

It was discovered recently by Lynne Cheney, the Vice President’s wife, during research for her new book that 2008 Democratic Presidential Candidate Barack Obama and Vice President Dick Cheney are cousins!!! If you’re familiar with each of the two’s physical statures (not just the black-white thing you racist!) as well as their pollar oppositte political convictions, then you’ll find this news quite awesome!

The story goes like this: Obama is a descendent of Mareen Duvall. The French Huguenot’s son married the granddaughter of a Richard Cheney, who arrived in Maryland in the late 1650’s from England. AND THE OUTCOME IS THAT OBAMA AND CHENEY ARE NINTH COUSINS ONCE REMOVED. Only in Washington.
